Asthma+me App: A Comprehensive Self-Care Solution for Children and Young People with Asthma
Asthma+me App is a Class 1 medical device Self-Care solution designed for children and young people aged 5-18 years old with asthma. Developed in collaboration with a leading NHS Paediatric Hospital in the UK, this family-focused service allows parents and family members to support and monitor the wellbeing of their children with asthma.
The app offers a clinician-approved Education syllabus on asthma management, consisting of 56 simple lessons and quizzes delivered daily. It provides training and instruction for the entire family. Asthma+me also enables wireless connectivity to self-monitoring devices such as PUFFClicker inhaler trackers, Peak Flow/FEV1 monitor, BuddyBand2 Activity Tracker, and Body Analyser Smart Scales to monitor key physiological signs.
With Asthma+me, users can record medication prescribed for each family member, track doses, and manage batches of prescriptions. The app also allows users to generate custom charts to identify trends and create pre-configured reports in PDF format, which can be printed, emailed, or exported to clinical centers.
To motivate children and young people to adhere to their Care Plan and medication routine, Asthma+me includes a rewards module where they can earn points for completing daily actions. The app also brings together all the child's information in one easy-to-read and printable or emailable Care Plan, which can be shared with schools, friends, family, carers, GP, and hospitals.
Please note that Asthma+me App is classified as a Class 1 medical device and is intended for use in the home to assist people in receiving and reviewing information from connected medical and non-medical devices. It is not intended to monitor vital physiological parameters where variation could result in immediate danger. Users should always follow their Care Plan and consult their medical team if they experience any asthma-related symptoms or have any concerns.
